The Outaouais region is in western Quebec. It's on the north side of the Ottawa River, directly across from Canada's capital, Ottawa. It is comprised of four administrative regions: MRC de Pontiac, MRC de la Vallée-de-la-Gatineau, MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais, and MRC de Papineau.

MRC stands for municipalité régionale de comté in French. The english translation is Regional County Municipality. These are regional administative hubs that manage land use and regional services.
